BEWARE OF ILLEGAL FINTECH, OJK PROVIDES COMMUNITY EDUCATION

In collaboration with the Faculty of Economics (FE) UNY, the Financial Services Authority held "OJK Goes to Campus 2020" with one of them holding a webinar with the theme "Digital Economy and Fintech Peer-to-Peer Lending (P2PL): Benefits and Challenges for Indonesia", Thursday ( 19/11) ago. Opened by the Head of the OJK Special Region of Yogyakarta and the Chancellor of UNY, this event received the attention of 257 participants who were academics at UNY and other universities in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

This event is expected to provide an understanding to the public about the fintech industry, especially P2PL or fintech lending (online lending), both benefits and risks, so that people can take advantage of the existence of this fintech lending more carefully and not be involved either as perpetrators or victims of illegal fintech. .

Parjiman as the DIY KOJK explained that his institution had designed this kind of educational activity for the community so that they would not be trapped in the rise of illegal online loans that are so easy to offer loans. "It takes cooperation and support from various elements of society, including academics to improve financial literacy in the community, both for product introduction and access to financial services, increasing the number of financially literate people, as well as increasing awareness of investment alert," added Parjiman.

The resource persons for this webinar are four practitioners and academics, namely Tris Yulianta as Director of Regulation, Licensing and Supervision of OJK Fintech, Anthonius Malau (Coordinator of Internet Content Control, Directorate of Information Application Control, Kominfo), Silvester M.M. Simamora (Bareskrim Polri), and Dr. Ratna Candra Sari (Lecturer of FE UNY).

Tris stated that more and more people are now aware of the existence of online loan facilities. "People need to be wary of illegal fintech, they need to make sure they only use P2PL fintech platforms that are registered/licensed at the OJK, which can be easily identified by accessing the OJK official website," Tris said.
